For the 12th season in a row, the Mumbai Indians were defeated in the first match of the IPL, this time with Hardik Pandya as captain. The Gujarat Titans, led by Shubman Gill, staged an impressive comeback to take a 6-run victory from Mumbai.
MI VS GT IPL 2024: The Gujarat Titans’ batting lineup struggled against Mumbai’s formidable bowling attack, led by Jasprit Bumrah. Only Sai Sudharsan managed to fight back against Mumbai’s strong bowling attack, scoring 45 runs. The Titans finished with a score of 168/6 in 20 overs, laying the groundwork for Mumbai’s chase.
Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill got the Titans off to a good start, but Mumbai’s bowlers quickly turned the tables, taking multiple wickets in a row. Currently, Azmatullah Omarzai and Sai Sudarshan are at the crease, hoping to lead their team to victory.
Hardik Pandya won the toss and chose to bowl first, which seemed wise given Mumbai’s strong bowling lineup. It’s worth noting that this is Shubman Gill’s first time leading an IPL team, and he appears to be very confident, especially on his home ground.
Player of the match : sai Sudharsan– I feel even in the first inning, it was slightly difficult and second innings because of the dew they were able to play a few shots, but we pulled off a great game today. I am just taking it as an extra opportunity to try and win a game for my team.
After a few balls, I felt this is that kind of a wicket where you can go hard everywhere and wanted to build on the momentum. Too many great contributions in the second innings and I am actually shocked to be receiving this award. As a batter, I found it tough when they took the pace off and our bowlers executed really well today.
